Make Roman Reigns look strong! That was Vince McMahon's standard instruction to all of Reigns' opponents when the latter started making strides on the main roster. While top management was excited about this direction, not all wrestlers on the roster shared the enthusiasm for putting their momentum on the line to make Reigns look strong, including one Celtic Warrior.

After winning the WWE Championship from Roman Reigns at Survivor Series 2015, Sheamus formed The League of Nations faction with Wade Barrett, Rusev, and Alberto Del Rio. The heel faction looked to foil Reigns' attempts to win back the title, and Sheamus succeeded in retaining the title at TLC 2015 but dropped the title to Reigns the next night on Raw.

During his appearance on an edition of WWE's The Bump, Sheamus expressed his frustration over having to put Roman Reigns over about 43 times within six months. He felt that WWE put the faction together only to make Reigns a top babyface. While there are no reports of any backstage conflicts between Reigns and Sheamus, the fact that the latter was frustrated enough to voice out his displeasure speaks volumes about how most wrestlers felt about Vince McMahon's obsession with making Reigns the top babyface.
