2009 would have seen the first babyface King for six years, as Kofi Kingston is my tip for walking away with the crown in that year.

Kofi was on the cusp of a big push that year, gaining entry into the Elimination Chamber before Edge stopped him from getting involved. He also competed in the Money in the Bank ladder match that year, a match that was won by CM Punk. Kofi was there or thereabouts throughout.

Kingston also won the United States Championship that year, so it is fair to say there was a decent amount of faith in the man from Ghana, West Africa. As for the tournament itself, 2009 saw a crop of new talent come through the ranks, so let's have Kofi defeat The Miz in the semi finals before besting Drew McIntyre in the final.

I'm going to King Kofi in 2009, although it would make for a whole year of fear over whether WWE would abbreviate it or not. What are you thinking, WWE?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
