9 Wrestlers WWE Never Turned Heel

7. Sting

Sting's frustratingly imperfect WWE stint was littered with annoyances, but at least the group didn't make the same infuriating decision WCW did with the character over a decade earlier.

Cast as a vigilante figure against Triple H's oppressive Authority until the company bizarrely re-wrote the angle during their WrestleMania 31 clash, Sting was a beloved presence even as the representative of WCW in a confusing last stab at milking the Monday Night War teat one more time.

There'd always been too much about Sting to like to justify turning him, and Vince McMahon thankfully knew it for the short time he actually had him on the books. Not that he'd lower himself to watch his own Network, but hard evidence exists within those very archives of the worst case scenario had he tried.

WCW's attempt in 1999 to have him act villainous in the face of a revived red-and-yellow Hulk Hogan was shameless and laughable - rather in keeping with new boss Vince Russo's modus operandi down in Atlanta. WWE may have insisted 'The Icon' be characterised by his past, but at least they only took most of the good bits.
