9 Wrestling Moves Sami Zayn Doesn’t Do Anymore
4. Tope Con Hilo
Everyone in WWE does a dive of some sort. Okay, not everyone, but the overwhelming majority of WWE’s roster has a weapon in their arsenal that involves throwing themselves through or over the ropes onto their opponent, allowing everyone to fall down and for the company to go to a commercial break. This, more so than most things, is the bane of professional wrestling made for television. If modern WWE is a drinking game, this is a down your drink moment.
Sami Zayn used to have one such move, a gorgeous Tope Con Hilo (a dive without hands, if we’re translating idiomatically). After drawing the crowd into a shared feeling of expectation and tension, Zayn throws himself over the top rope onto his opponent, a high-risk move in the most literal sense. Of the myriad dives in WWE, this was one of the finest.
It hasn’t been seen since the RAW after WrestleMania 34 when Zayn and Kevin Owens did battle for a spot on the RAW roster. Zayn’s career has been muted since this period, and the Tope Con Hilo is all but lost to history.
