9 WWE Championship Wins That Were Completely Overshadowed

3. Kevin Owens - WWE RAW August 2016

The latest addition to this list, Kevin Owens completed an emotional journey on Raw, outlasting Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Big Cass to become only the second ever WWE Universal Champion. Owens is one of the most popular modern superstars, and him winning a big championship was arguably one of the most emotional moments WWE had in their locker.

The only issue is that practically nobody is really talking about that coming out of the event.

Triple H returned to Pedigree Roman Reigns and seemingly hand the Universal Championship to Rollins on a platter, only to shock the world by hitting Rollins with the same move. Owens picked the scraps, and Triple stared down Mick Foley and his wife, Stephanie, before leaving through the crowd.

Is it the beginning of an NXT invasion? Why did Hunter hit his former protege Rollins with the devastating move he bestowed upon him? Why Trips, why? Kevin Owens' emotional Universal Championship win has been somewhat overshadowed by questions surrounding the King of Kings, his motives and what this is all leading to.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
