9 WWE Stars Who Were Turned By The Fans
3. Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan was a heel World Heavyweight Champion heading into WrestleMania XXVIII, where he was set to clash with Royal Rumble winner Sheamus. Coming out of 'Mania, however, Bryan was clearly heading towards a babyface turn, thanks to his humiliating 18-second loss in the show's opener.
It was a baffling decision, one that has been written about many, many times before. WWE probably envisioned it as his 'Honky Tonk Man moment', the difference was that people actually liked Bryan and wanted to see him perform, not jobbed out to Triple H's workout buddy.
Bryan continued wrestling as a heel for a couple of months after, but the cheers were noticeable. The fans were desperate to cheer him and reluctant to boo him and when he formed an entertaining odd couple tag team with Kane, that sealed it. The two were one of the most fun and over acts in the company during their time teaming together.
Since then, Bryan has gone from strength to strength and is one of the most likeable and over wrestlers on the WWE roster, even if he is rather unfortunately pinned to the sidelines at present. The man who captured the WWE World Heavyweight Title in the main event of WrestleMania XXX did so because of the swelling of fan support, even after WWE tried to turn him heel in an angle with Bray Wyatt.
It just wouldn't wash with the masses and WWE were forced to abandon it after just a couple of weeks.
