Shawn Michaels is widely regarded as a legend in the WWE. He's taken his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and his current job at NXT sees him train up the next generation of wrestlers coming through the ranks. There was a time though when he was, putting it politely, difficult to work with. This show was certainly one of them.

Being broadcast from Birmingham, England the main event match saw The British Bulldog take on Shawn Michaels for the WWF European Title. Common wrestling tradition dictates that the home hero should probably win when the stakes are high. There was certainly an expectation that Bulldog would be the one lifting the title that night especially after he had dedicated the match to his Sister who was battling cancer at the time. It would be a feel good moment for the 11,000 fans in the NEC and according to all accounts that was the plan going into the show.

But then Shawn happened to get in the ear of Vince McMahon and things changed. After over twenty minutes of wrestling Shawn Michaels is walks out with the European title. It's a belt he wouldn't have much interest in defending as he essentially hands it to his good friend Triple H in a comedy match later down the line. The reaction of the crowd at the end, as cups fly through the air towards Shawn as he celebrates, is truly something to behold.

There's also a couple of great matches leading up to the main event as well. The Undertaker versus Bret Hart is well worth your time as is Vader versus Owen Hart.
