A Detailed Breakdown Of WWE Ownership
Just who is in control of this wayward ship?
News broke last week that Vince McMahon, Lord and Saviour of all things World Wrestling Entertainment, had sold around two million shares of company stock, a total amounting to something like $40 million.
Such announcements always come with a certain amount of intrigue, and this was no different. What does this mean for WWE ownership?
Luckily for all troubled by such questions, wrestling writer and man of business knowledge Brandon Howard was kind enough to post a pie-chart breakdown of company ownership as of May 2016. The graph makes for interesting reading, whether you are a lover of pie-charts or not. But what exactly does it all mean?
To be honest, not a huge amount. Vince McMahon now owns some 46% of WWE, but the combined stock of his wife and children (5% or so) is substantially more powerful than the rest. What this means is that Vince McMahon is most certainly still in control of World Wrestling Entertainment. Rumours frequently swirl around regarding a power struggle within the company between Vince and Triple H (Paul Levesque), but the reality is that such a struggle means little whilst Vince is still alive.
Vince selling stock is certainly news, but anyone expecting it to mean a change in direction for the company is sorely mistaken.
