Does anyone honestly see Adam Cole toppling MJF and taking the AEW World Title? It'd be a championship change only for the sake of it because this is a landmark event for the company, and it wouldn't be the right thing to do. Adam and Max have had a nice run together, but this is where the train stops.

It's been fun, lads.

Keeping MJF happy should be one of Tony Khan's top priorities heading into the final quarter of 2023. CM Punk's ongoing "Real World Champion" stuff on Collision is stepping on some toes, and it'll continue to do so unless AEW plans to bring things to boil between "Real Champ" and the real champion.

This is a chance to showcase Friedman as the star of the entire promotion. Then, once he's vanquished his on/off partner Cole and retained the gold, MJF can turn his attention to somebody who wants to be the centre of attention...
