Ratings-drawing AEW star wants to be "new legend" rather than calling back to famous former faces.

Current AEW Tag Team Champion Max Caster has moved to dismiss regular comparisons between The Acclaimed and former multi-time WWE Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws.

The teams both share an undeniable bond with audiences and the presence of Billy Gunn hitting big catchphrases and hand-signs, but Caster believes the group are more than just a solid sequel.

“We call ourselves ‘the new legends,’ we’re not the ‘new’ New Age Outlaws. We are the new legends in wrestling because of what we have been able to accomplish just this year and once we won the titles, I told Anthony, ‘If we have a full year of just focused energy on getting this to be the most popular thing in wrestling and the loser popular thing in the world, we’re set for life...we represent all the homegrown talent on the roster as well. They look at us different now too. Like, what [they] want to know, what to do now and if we can pass that on, that would be great."

Caster and partner Anthony Bowens look set to defend their titles against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal sometime in the near future, having just toppled longstanding #1 ranked duo FTR on the December 7th edition of Dynamite. The pair are currently 89+ days into their first reign as Champions, having dethroned Swerve In Our Glory for the straps at September's Dynamite: Grand Slam special.
