AEW Double Or Nothing 2024: 10 Things That Must Happen
6. Mercedes Mone Arrives
Ditto.
Willow Nightingale is great, but she's about to be pushed aside for Mercedes Mone. The ex-Sasha Banks will work her very first AEW match at Double Or Nothing (over two months after debuting on TV), and it'll be a 'W' for the 'CEO'. Poor Willow will have to get back in line as a contender, or find something else to do.
Is this ideal? Nah, not really. Nightingale being jobbed out to Mone this way will leave a bad taste in some people's mouths, and it'll make certain fans wonder why hard work isn't being properly rewarded. Tony Khan would probs point to Willow winning the belt as her reward. Fair enough.
At first, it was tempting to pitch a shock loss for Mercedes, but that's unlikely. The pitch would've included multiple women running in to fend her off and protect Nightingale, for the record. Sadly for Willow, the inevitable outcome is a Mone victory and TBS Title reign.
