AEW Dynamite Ratings Down Again Following Thanksgiving Eve Episode

Despite a strong showing for Thanksgiving last week, AEW Dynamite's ratings slumped on 1 December.

This week's episode of AEW Dynamite drew what must be considered disappointing ratings following last week's Thanksgiving eve show, which was a success relative to previous years.

As originally reported by Wrestlenomics' Brandon Thurston, a total of 861,000 P2+ viewers watched the 1 December episode across its two hours. This number included 406,000 P18-49 viewers for a rating of 0.31.

These numbers are down on the pre-Thanksgiving show's 898,000 P2+ viewers and 408,000 P18-49. Though that show's audience had declined from the prior week, these figures were considered a success, as 2019 and 2020's pre-Thanksgiving episodes suffered greater drops. AEW audiences are typically more fluid than other wrestling companies' when it comes to wider cultural events impacting viewership.

Showbuzz Daily's nightly chart shows that despite what look like less-than-stellar numbers at face value, Dynamite still finished third on the night amongst cable originals.

Dynamite's numbers are slumped since the 27 October episode. This can largely be attributed to a change in timeslot on the west coast, with the show now airing live at 5 PM PST rather than the previous 8 PM. Whether or not the slot will revert once Dynamite moves from TNT to TBS is currently unclear.
