8. Thunder Rosa Beats Toni Storm
The chances of either Mariah May turning on mentor Toni Storm or ‘Timeless’ ditching her protege skyrocket with each passing AEW show. It’s clear to everyone who watches weekly that Toni vs. Mariah is coming at some point, and a few fans circled DoN 2024 as the possible tipping point. If that’s going to happen, then look out for shenanigans at Dynasty.
It’d be a mini-crisis for the women’s division if Toni dropped the belt to Thunder Rosa though. That’s no indictment on Rosa’s skills, but more of a complaint against the idea of stripping Storm of her title right now. Her old-timey gimmick has been a breath of fresh air for the division, but management could be tempted into booking May to accidentally cost her boss and thus force a split.
Hopefully not.
Y’see, Toni doesn’t need to lose her championship to facilitate that plot point. She and May can splinter without any title changes, but AEW’s decision makers might disagree. Plus, and this is something several have pointed out previously, Tony kinda owes Thunder an olive branch. Look out, ‘Timeless’!
