AEW Dynasty 2024: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True
7. The International Title Fix Is In
WCW fans of yesteryear will remember how p*ssed off everyone got when Hollywood Hogan and Kevin Nash revealed they’d been in cahoots all along during that disastrous “fingerpoke of doom” stuff in early-1999. The angle instantly made a mockery of a hot storyline, and is credited as one of the worst moments in the promotion’s downfall.
Be very careful, AEW.
OK, so Roddy Strong and Kyle O’Reilly going back to being best buds isn’t on the same scale as the nWo, but O’Reilly has a genuine chance to emerge as a breakout babyface in the upper-midcard should he remain at loggerheads with Strong. If AEW plays the old ‘swerve all along’ card, then you can score another non-finish for Dynasty, and that won’t go down well at all.
It’s far-fetched, but stranger things have happened than these old NXT mates coming back together as a united front. Kyle joining the Undisputed Kingdom and giving Adam Cole another weapon certainly isn’t out of the question. It does suck compared to the alternative (a feisty O’Reilly face run) though.
