AEW: Ranking Every 2020 Signing's Run From Best To Worst

9. Serena Deeb

Few could have predicted how strongly Serena Deeb would be booked when she first signed with AEW. Many wrote her off as an experienced name brought into mentor younger talent and, for the first month of her run, that's exactly what she did.

The former Straight Edge Society member turned up out of the blue on an episode of Dynamite to lose to then-NWA Women's Champion, Thunder Rosa. Then, in late October, Deeb scored a huge upset in a rematch with Rosa on an episode of United Wrestling Network's Primetime Live, beating La Mera Mera to capture the title.

Since becoming NWA Women's Champion, Serena has been pushed as a huge star on AEW TV, defending the championship three times against Rosa, Leyla Hersch, and Allysin Kay on the Full Gear pre-show.

Serena's place on this list is entirely down to her time after winning the NWA Championship. Since capturing the belt, Deeb has been treated like a proper champion, and the fact that an AEW-signed wrestler is currently holding a major title in another promotion might become even more important as the company's quest to build an anti-WWE alliance continues into 2021.
