5. Ricky Starks
"Absolute" Ricky Starks began 2020 as the 'inaugural' NWA World Television Champion after that belt was brought back to life by Billy Corgan's National Wrestling Alliance.
The Stroke Daddy held the belt for just over a month before losing the gold to Zicky Dice and leaving the company in May. On the 17 June, Starks turned up unannounced on Dynamite to challenge Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship.
After a match so good WWE got in touch with him immediately after, Starks decided to sign with AEW full-time.
Later in the year, the charismatic star joined up with Brian Cage and has been aligned with the Machine and his mentor, Taz, ever since. Since then , Starks has been treated extremely well, with only Jon Moxley and Hikaru Shida scoring more victories in AEW this year.
Ricky Starks has been involved in high profile matches and storylines with Cody, Darby Allin, Christopher Daniels, and even the recently-debuted Sting. At just 26-years-old, Starks has done very well for himself in a short space of time.
Whilst his Team Taz-mate Cage might have more accolades to his name in 2020, Starks has introduced himself to a much bigger audience than he was used to and has set himself up very nicely for the next few years.
