AEW Revolution 2023: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

7. Wardlow Loses

Say it ain't so.

It was a clanger to have Samoa Joe choke out Powerhouse Hobbs back at Full Gear to become the new TNT titleholder. That just about protected Wardlow, but it didn't matter; he'd still dropped the strap, and lost a ton of momentum with it. AEW hasn't managed to get things rolling for the big man again since.

Sunday is a rare window of opportunity to right some wrongs and have Wardlow mow down Joe en route to recapturing the gold. Or, it could be looked back on someday as the end of the "Powerbomb Symphony" experiment, and that'd be rubbish.

Wardlow caught fire with crowds for a while there, but the booking couldn't sustain his march towards stardom for any significant length of time. Seeing him lay down for Joe at Revolution would tell the world that Tony Khan doesn't have any actual faith in Wardlow as a dude who can motor up the card.
