AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door 2022: 10 Nightmares That Could Happen

1. The Entire Concept Is Underwhelming

AEW/NJPW

Originally, Forbidden Door appeared to be marketed as strictly AEW vs. NJPW. Whilst that's true in some instances, it isn't the case across the board. There's nothing New Japan about Thunder Rosa vs. Toni Storm, for example, and some of the other crossover bouts are solely lacking in purpose.

Perhaps it's the absence of some big names, but there's slightly less buzz about this pay-per-view going in than there should be. That's genuinely rubbish to report, because the show will be an in-ring winner and a fine use of three-four hours on Sunday evening. It's just...it could've been bigger.

Missed opportunities, and all that.

Tony Khan will be hoping that things pan out and Forbidden Door is enough of a success to merit a sequel next year. Fingers crossed on that happening. If so, then AEW might want to rethink their approach to the build for some of these bouts.
