AEW chief Tony Khan has set his sights on becoming The Wrestling Observer's "Booker Of The Year".

Khan told Busted Open Radio that winning Dave Meltzer's award means a lot to him - the All Elite boss said he has three months to prove why he deserves to be named 'Promoter Of The Year'. Tony then said anyone who criticises long-term AEW booking is "completely full of s**t" and "just not paying attention".

Strong words.

Khan went on to say that creating situations out of "cold matches" is a "trope" that needs to stick around in pro wrestling. He doesn't think there's any problem with booking one-offs on the surface then spinning out of those bouts into full-on feuds later.

Meltzer awarded Tony 'Promoter Of The Year' for 2019, 2020 and 2021. Now, the AEW owner wants to bag that prize for a fourth year running by making the October-January stretch of programming must-see.

However, it hasn't taken fans long to ridicule Khan for focusing on the Observer's award list when there's been so much backstage drama in his company over the past few months.
