AJ Lee's WWE Return HEAVILY Teased For SmackDown THIS WEEK (WWE News)

Ahead of SmackDown in Chicago this week, the AJ Lee return teases continued.

On the back of WWE Clash in Paris and rumblings of a potential AJ Lee return, the teases of AJ heading back to WWE continued on last night's Raw.

There, a fantastic segment saw CM Punk and Becky Lynch have a fiery in-ring promo exchange, with Becky coming out to confront Punk after he'd demanded Seth Rollins come out to face him "man to man". Instead, the Second City Saint got the Man; the same Man who cost Punker the World Heavyweight Championship in Paris, delivering a low blow to the Chicagoan that allowed Rollins to hit his patented Stomp on a steel chair for the 1-2-3.

While Seth Rollins did eventually come out to the stage, the Visionary soon made his way to the back before Becky stopped CM Punk from going after her husband and then absolutely slapped the heck out of Punk, slapping him multiple, multiple times across his face, his chest, his arms, and then his face again for good measure.

As the segment ended, the Straight-Edge Superstar calmly said how he's going to make Seth Rollins wish he never cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Punk, and told Becky Lynch, "You're gonna regret putting your hands on me."

By the time CM Punk got backstage to go after Seth, he was informed by Adam Pearce that Rollins and Lynch had already left the building. Upon asking where SmackDown is this week, though, Punk was told that it's in his hometown of Chicago, to which he wryly said, "Tremendous", as the six-time WWE World Champion clearly has something up his sleeve.

Yesterday saw reports that AJ Lee has been mentioned in several WWE pitches recently, and that such pitches were immediately shut down in the same way they'd previously been. Should the former Divas Champion indeed return to WWE to help out her husband - potentially a CM Punk & AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch match - that would represent a first match for AJ since the night after WrestleMania 31 back in 2015.
