AJ Styles Outlines His WWE Retirement Plans

AJ Styles wants to become a WWE talent scout when he finally retires from professional wrestling.

Speaking on the First Class Fatherhood podcast, ‘The Phenomenal One’ said that he wants to discover men and women whose lifelong dream is to make it to WWE, and help them do just that.

Here’s a quote from the current Raw start (h/t POST Wrestling for the transcription):-

“If I could have an opportunity, if I have that opening I guess you can say, to work for the WWE, I think I’d like to be a scout. I wanna be able to go to these independent shows that these other guys are doing and girls, and say, ‘You’ve wanted to be a wrestler all your life, here’s how to get there. I’m gonna come back in six months. I’m gonna check on you’ and see if I can get those guys who’ve always wanted to do this their whole life.”

AJ added that while he knows the company sends scouts to weightlifting competitions and other similar events, he isn’t sure if WWE officials attend smaller independent shows. He said that the goal should be getting trainees in the WWE system early, as making it in the world’s biggest promotion is “not just about moves,” stressing the importance of camera angles, promos, etc.

Styles has previously said that his current WWE contract, which expires in 2024, will be his last. A soaring success in Impact Wrestling, NJPW, and now WWE, he will go down as one of the all-time greats whenever he decides to call it a day.
