It’s difficult to get invested in a five-way match, even when the stipulation has high stakes (in this case, to determine Brock Lesnar’s opponent at Great Balls of Fire), but earlier this month, these five men pulled off a WWE match of the year contender at Extreme Rules. All five men get incredible spots in, and the last ten minutes is a roller coaster of emotion, as you genuinely can’t tell who is going out on top.

Of course, the star of the match is Samoa Joe, who from the start is a dominant beast. Forming an interesting alliance with Wyatt, the two go about picking apart the faces. But it’s not to last, as only one man can become #1 contender. The match is punctuated by Joe’s shock victory, which has been the best example of WWE surprising its fans for the right reason all year.

It’s a great match that’s given Joe the momentum he has heading into Great Balls of Fire.
