And we suddenly switch from “terrible” to “perfectly acceptable.”

The working recipe for Brock Lesnar/Roman Reigns matches seems to be “add someone else to the mix.” In this case, Dean Ambrose joined the duo in a triple threat for the #1 contender’s spot and a title shot at WrestleMania 32. The outcome was never really in doubt, as Roman had lost his world title at Royal Rumble to a returning Triple H, so of course the Big Dog had to avenge himself.

The match itself was fine, but rather than have Reigns win decisively to earn the title shot, he speared and pinned Ambrose, earning a title shot without having to pin Brock.

And really, it’s understandable if you forgot about this match. It was such a foregone conclusion that Roman was winning that this match was easy to dismiss.
