Sting’s second major match in WWE proved two things. First, that despite being 56 years old, Sting could move around very well, and managed to conceal his limitations very well. Second, despite those aforementioned positive qualities, someone at Sting’s age shouldn’t be wrestling in a World Title match against someone as technically-versatile as Seth Rollins.

As we have seen over the past few years, Rollins’ offense is centered on several spots that demand considerable endurance and a healthy body from his opponent. Just look at his match with Cena that took place beforehand (more on that later): there were far more exciting reversals, high spots and risky moves that made the match dramatic and unpredictable vis-à-vis determining the winner.

Sting demonstrated considerable toughness and technical skill for someone his age and there were several moments where Sting had a major advantage and looked like he could actually win. Unfortunately, the major problem with Sting’s age showed its face, when Sting injured himself during a routine spot that Rollins performs safely all the time. Because of that, the ending looked rushed and took away from an otherwise impressive match.

Whether Sting continues to wrestle or not is unknown as of this writing. What is important is that, despite being 0-2 in WWE right now, he has demonstrated a consistency and skill that most wrestlers can only dream of having at his age.

Final Rating: ***3/4
