Okay, I know, The Ascension suck balls on the main roster.

Ever since they arrived on RAW and SmackDown Konnor and Viktor have been treated like fools, all the way from JBL lambasting them at the beginning to whatever their run as Stardust's henchmen was supposed to be. Konnor was recently slapped with his second Wellness Policy violation, and it would take a brave man to bet on the duo still being in the company in a years time.

All of which is a complete world away from how the duo were presented in NXT. In their early stages The Ascension were different and, no I'm not lying, cool as sh*t. They had a unique entrance, a different look and a stand-out feel, and even got the better of The Usos in a prolonged feud on NXT.

They eventually defeated Graves and Neville for the titles, and went on to hold them for an incredible 364 days. Sure, for the majority of their reign they squashed unknown talent in a matter of minutes, but you can only beat what is in front of you after all.

The Ascension were so highly regarded on NXT that they were the first opponents for Hideo Itami and Finn Balor when the standouts from Japan arrived in the company. It is rather depressing to see how far Konnor and Viktor's stock has fallen, but for one year they were at the top of the food chain.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
