Backstage Update On Nick Aldis Signing With WWE
Latest on Nick Aldis, who become WWE SmackDown General Manager last week.
Nick Aldis signed with WWE in an official capacity last week, doing so ahead of his televised debut on last Friday's SmackDown.
Fightful Select reports that although Aldis had been doing production work for WWE since the summer, he was doing so on a trial basis. Now, he is full-time with the market leaders.
Paul 'Triple H' Levesque unveiled Aldis as SmackDown's new General Manager during SmackDown. The former NWA World's Heavyweight Champion made several appearances throughout the night, verbally shooting Dominik Mysterio down in his first in-ring appearance.
As a result of Aldis' appointment, WWE's existing on-air authority figure, Adam Pearce, has become Raw General Manager.
Whether or not Aldis will continue working as a WWE producer following his General Manager appointment remains to be seen.
Fightful's WWE sources have indicated that Aldis has been easy to work with backstage. The Englishman is seemingly keen to make the most of this opportunity, saying he has been eager to work in every role the promotion has handed him.
Aldis, 36, ended a five-year association with the NWA in November 2022, when he announced he had requested his release from the Billy Corgan-helmed group.
