Having not wrestled since losing to Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door back in August, there's now an update on Swerve Strickland's AEW status.

That loss to Okada was followed by a post-match beatdown of Swerve by the returning Wardlow, which led to various reports that Strickland was set for a spell on the sidelines as he required surgery for meniscus issues that had been troubling him since his WWE days.

In terms of when fans can expect to see Swerve Strickland back in action, Fightful Select notes that, as of this past weekend, there's hope that Swerve could be in line for a "winter return", with December mentioned as a possible return timeframe. As ever with these things, though, this is all dependent on Swerve not suffering any setbacks, and nothing is set in stone just yet.

It was previously speculated that Strickland would be taking time off after All In in July, but instead, the former AEW World Champion opted to hold off for a month or so before taking time off to get that meniscus issue finally addressed.

As for what could be ahead for Swerve as and when he does return, one has to imagine that the 35-year-old will have the Don Callis Family in his crosshairs. Sure, Wardlow may now unfortunately be dealing with his own injury issues - believed to be a torn pec - that'll be keeping him out of the ring for a while, but the War Dog had aligned himself with the Callis Family at Forbidden Door, meaning Swerve could well have some sweet revenge on his mind against Don and the Callis crew.
