The reason WWE superstar Daniel Bryan is currently out of action is because of a career-threatening concussion, according to the latest Wrestling Observer. The injury occurred during a Smackdown match with Sheamus shortly after WrestleMania 31. Bryan was sent home in the middle of the European tour in April and hasn't been in a match since then. He also had to relinquish the Intercontinental Title on May 11 when it was determined that he wouldn't be able to defend it regularly. It was noted by Dave Meltzer that many people knew about the concussion within WWE, but it was kept quiet because Bryan worked several matches after the injury occurred. There is also a lawsuit from former wrestlers related to their concussion issues while they were actively wrestling, so WWE wants to try to hide details of most injuries in order to not make the company look bad. Bryan's injury was recently mentioned by Bret Hart, who believes Bryan would never wrestle again and that Bryan just didn't know it yet. Bryan has dealt with concussions his whole career and may have reached a point where doctors feel like he should stop wrestling. Back in mid-April, WWE denied that Bryan had a concussion after Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez reported that he did. This just shows that WWE really wanted to keep the injury quiet until Hart's comments opened up the floodgates, so to speak. Bryan is currently serving as a judge on Tough Enough as a way to keep him on television but there is no timeline for a return to in-ring action.
