'Beautiful' Bobby Eaton Passes Away At 62
Rest in peace to the Midnight Express legend.
Professional wrestling legend 'Beautiful' Bobby Eaton has passed away at 62 years old.
Bobby's sister, Debbie Eaton Lewis, confirmed the sad news on Facebook. The cause of death has not been revealed.
One of the greatest American workers of his generation, Eaton is best known as one half of the legendary Midnight Express - one of the most influential tag teams the sport has ever seen.
Initially teaming with Dennis Condrey before his Jim Crockett Promotions departure, then Stan Lane thereafter, Eaton broke out as part of the tandem, forging his reputation as an impeccable hand through iconic rivalries and matches with The Rock 'N' Roll Express, The Fantastics, and more.
Lauded and celebrated by his peers, Eaton's singles runs were comparatively short, and never as glittering as his tag work, though he did capture the WCW Television Championship from Arn Anderson in 1991. Working for Smoky Mountain Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling later in his career, he leaves behind a rich, varied, and influential body of work that'll be studied by younger wrestlers for generations to come.
Eaton had been hospitalised after suffering what was described as a "bad fall" in July.
All of us at WhatCulture wish to send our deepest thoughts and condolences to Eaton's family and friends at this difficult time.
