Smackdown Women's Champion Becky Lynch was forced to miss her first televised championship defense when a health issue forced her out of the No Mercy Pay-Per-View. On Saturday, she returned to competition, defeating would-be No Mercy opponent Alexa Bliss at a live event in Sioux City, Iowa, and the following evening in Des Moines, she, Emma, and Naomi beat Bliss, Carmella, and Natalya.

Becky became the inaugural Smackdown Women's Champion when she won a six-pack elimination challenge at Backlash, and on the following episode of Smackdown, Bliss beat four other women to be named the number one contender.

Shortly before No Mercy, though, news broke that Becky would not be able to compete on the show. Despite the fact that company officials were aware of her condition, there was no announcement until after the show had already started. Naomi substituted for Becky, defeating Bliss.

Bliss's rescheduled title shot has already been confirmed for the November 8 episode of Smackdown, which will air from Glasgow, Scotland. Additionally, WWE.com has announced that the Women's Champion will make her TV return on tonight's episode of the show.
