Big Show Says He'll Be Done With WWE By February 2018

The World's Largest Athlete has one eye on retirement.

Big Show's WWE career has been on the downswing for several years now. His last major championship reign ended in January 2013, and despite playing an increased role on Raw in recent weeks, he has been used only sparingly over the past couple of years.

Now, after 18 years with the company, the ageing giant finally has a finishing date in-mind. Speaking in a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, Big Show revealed the following:-

“I know I’m done February 2018. That’s when my contract ends as a full-time, live event guy. We’ll see what happens after that, whether I roll into an ambassador role or what WWE has for me.”

It had long been suggested that his proposed WrestleMania 33 bout with Shaquille O'Neal would serve as Show's retirement match, but the World's Largest Athlete rubbished these rumours last October. Now, it doesn't even sound like the Shaq match is going to happen. A few social media barbs aside, Show vs. Shaq has received absolutely no build ahead of April 2nd, and Big Show addressed his would-be opponent in the interview:-

“Well, as far as I know on my end, I’m ready to go. It’s a situation that Shaq and the WWE have to work out. I don’t know if he chickened out, has other commitments … I don’t know. “

Show defeated Rusev on last week's Fastlane pay-per-view, and fell to Braun Strowman in a great monster vs. monster battle on February 20th. He's back in the spotlight, but with the Shaq situation hanging in the balance, WWE will likely have to find something else for Show to do ahead of his eventual retirement.
