Bill DeMott's Side Of The Story: 13 Things We Learned On Talk Is Jericho

9. Breaking His Neck In The Ring

Jericho asks how far he got with his in-ring career in WWE, and DeMott points out that he broke his neck in 2003. He was wrestling the late Shawn O'Haire, and after doing his trademark moonsault he landed awkwardly and couldn't move with no feeling in his body. They took him to the back and Crash Holly took him to San Antonio to Raw, and WWE took him to the airport and put him on a plane to get checked out. Chris mentions how crazy it is that he still went to Raw with a broken neck, and Bill remarks that that's your job. He eventually got his neck fixed and Dunn approached him about transitioning to commentary, but he was offered an opportunity to go work in Lousiville as a trainer there, which Lance Storm had turned down because he didn't want to move. But that quick;y changed to working in the Deep South developmental system in Atlanta.
