Brock Lesnar's 10 Best Second-Run WWE Matches
3. Vs. CM Punk (SummerSlam 2013)
Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk sounds really weird when you say it out loud. Now, from a promotional standpoint, it absolutely made sense, as they were two of WWE's biggest stars in 2013, and both had the distinction of being Paul Heyman guys, so there was a natural feud in place. However, when you consider that Punk was a smaller, less athletically inclined worker, how was he supposed to have a convincing, competitive match with the shaved gorilla shoot fighter that is Brock Lesnar?
Well, leave it to the Best in the World to make us believe. In a wild, but logical extreme rules match, Punk was able to stay toe-to-toe with Lesnar by using his smarts and environment to his advantage, with Brock only getting gusts of wind with which to pummel Punk. It felt believable that Brock needed the weasly tactics of Heyman to distract Punk and pick up the win.
If you want to see a masterclass of Punk's psychology as well as Brock mostly selling (a rarity in his second run), this match comes heartily recommended.
