Brock Lesnar defeated John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this past Sunday at SummerSlam. His reward isn't just the title of WWE Champion, but he got a new piece of hardware too. The new WWE Championship was created because WWE debuted their new logo at SummerSlam. The logo is the same as the WWE Network that we've seen everywhere since the WWE Network debuted back in February. Having one piece of gold for the WWE Champion is a nice change. When Randy Orton beat John Cena to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the TLC PPV last December, it meant that Orton had to carry around the WWE & World Titles for every show. When Daniel Bryan won the gold at WrestleMania 30 he got to carry them. Then John Cena won the gold in a Ladder Match at Money in the Bank. Lesnar posed with the two gold titles at SummerSlam and he left with them, but WWE decided it was the right time to have only one major championship title. In the eyes of many fans that were wondering why there were two WWE Titles, it truly is what's best for business. What's different about this WWE Title compared to the last one (aside from the logo change) is that the last one said "CHAMPION" across the bottom of the title. The replica copies of the new WWE Title say "World Heavyweight Champion" on them in small letters, but it's hard to see it on television. All other WWE titles have been altered because of the WWE logo change. It's not a major change on any of those titles, but they have been modified. Regarding Lesnar's future in WWE and next challenger for the WWE Title, that wasn't addressed on Raw. He isn't expected to appear on Raw every week, but the former WWE Champion John Cena was advertised for next week's show. He missed it this week due to the injuries (in storyline - there were no reported injuries for Cena) he suffered at the hands of Lesnar. It's expected that the next Lesnar match will be a rematch against Cena for the WWE Title at Night of Champions in September because Lesnar is booked for the show. Former champions usually get a return match soon after they lose the title (Randy Orton did not against Daniel Bryan), so it makes sense that WWE would do Lesnar vs. Cena again with some kind of stipulation on it. While nothing was announced for Night of Champions on Raw, but it's okay because they have four more episodes of Raw before Night of Champions. If you want a copy of the new WWE Title it is already available for purchase at WWEShop.com. The prices vary depending on what you're looking for, but we can assure you they are worth more than $9.99.
