'Champion Vs. Champion' Match Announced For Next Week's WWE Raw

Ready for a little inter-brand warfare?

WWE's social media streams have confirmed that both the Raw and SmackDown Tag-Team Champions will collide on next week's episode of Raw.

Reigning SmackDown Champs Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura showed up on Monday's TV to challenge the Street Profits to a little 'Champs vs. Champs' action, and both Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford accepted. Then, WWE made it official on Twitter.

If this was 2010, they'd have made it 'Facebook official' instead.

Seriously though, it is random that the company suddenly remembered about their 'Brand To Brand Invitational' gimmick on Monday night. That idea seemed to be on the scrap heap until Cesaro and Nakamura waltzed out and made the challenge.

Michael Cole, who had replaced Tom Phillips on the show this week, said on commentary that Cesaro and Shin were allowed to be on Raw due to the Invitational's mystical rules. This is 100% a 'Wild Card Rule' repeat - in other words, WWE can book talents to jump brands whenever they feel like it without giving proper explanation.

Regardless, this does have the potential to be a very good match. Tune in next week to see it.
