While John Cena currently has his sights on winning a record-setting 17th World Title at WrestleMania 41 in a few weeks, WWE's Charlotte Flair is also gunning to not just match Cena but to outdo him when it comes to championship gold.

In a recent interview with The Independent, Charlotte detailed how she herself has her father, Ric Flair's, record of 16 World Championships - which is tied by Cena - in her sights. And if John Cena happens to beat the Nature Boy's record first, the Queen will have something to say about it.

As Charlotte explained:

"You can't erase history. History is facts. And if you erase my dad, you erase me. It's not possible to erase the last name Flair. I plan on breaking my dad's record, that's something I want to do and will do. But if John is the first to break it, then I will break John's record."

As it stands, Charlotte Flair is a 14-time World Champion, with the 38-year-old having the chance to win number 15 when she faces Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women's Title at WrestleMania 41.

Flair may have won a whole host of titles across her WWE run, but she's technically not held the WWE Women's Championship currently in possession of Stratton, on which Charlotte added how that prize is "still something new" and that "these titles match my DNA".

Charlotte Flair, History Maker

Having made her in-ring debut in 2012, Charlotte Flair is the most successful female competitor in WWE history and one of the most successful women in wider pro wrestling history.

Flair's first taste of gold came in May 2014, becoming the second ever NXT Women's Champion, winning that title after Paige had vacated it when the Anti-Diva moved to the main roster. In the years since then, Charlotte became the final ever WWE Divas Champion, the first rebranded WWE Women's Champion, had five more runs with that title when it was likewise rebranded to the WWE Raw Women's Championship, and is a seven-time WWE SmackDown Champion. She would also return to reclaim the NXT Women's Title in 2020, and had a short run as one-half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions with Asuka.

While the rebranding and newly introduced titles muddy the waters somewhat, WWE officially recognises Charlotte Flair as a 14-time World Champion. Not to mention, she is the only woman to ever win two Royal Rumbles, plus was part of the first-ever women's WrestleMania main event, going up against Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch in the show-closing bout at WrestleMania 35.
