People within WWE believe Tiffany Stratton was put in a "sink or swim situation" with Charlotte Flair on last week's SmackDown.

This is per Sean Ross Sapp, who, on the 23 March Fightful Report podcast, went over the backstage reaction to Flair and Startton's controversial sit-down interview segment. Airing on the 21 March SmackDown, it saw Flair completely control the conversation with the WWE Women's Champion, whom she spoke over several times and claimed would be lucky to still have a job when she is Charlotte's age.

Sapp's source didn't say that Tiffany "sank" in the segment, but stated that they feel Flair is a "better swimmer" in such situations. "Charlotte definitely handled business on that one," was also amongst the backstage reactions.

Asked if he believed Charlotte went off-script in the segment, Sapp stated he didn't believe this was the case, but a lot of people felt like Flair came off well in the segment and Stratton did not. And although it seemed like Charlotte knew everything Tiffany was going to say, there's no word on what level of improvisation (if any) was involved.

Stratton vs. Flair is on the lineup for WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Charlotte earned her title shot by winning the women's Royal Rumble match on 1 February, then, after briefly deliberating on who to challenge, setting her sights on Stratton.

Tiffany has been WWE Women's Champion for 81 days, having successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank contract on Nia Jax on 3 January. She has since mounted successful defences against Jax and Bayley.
