CM Punk’s WWE Return: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

5. A New Shield Debuts

Admittedly, the word fanciful could be used for this thought too.

The Shield's original purpose was tied to CM Punk before Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose became a true standalone unit doing their own thing. That's something to keep in mind, especially if WWE wants to try some blasts from the past during Punk's company reprise.

Picture this: Punk is a cutting a promo on Rollins during their feud, then the old Shield theme suddenly starts playing. Looking up, CM sees three wrestlers in the old skull-style face masks walking down the steps through the crowd. Shield 2.0 would be born.

Three different wrestlers would be under the masks, obviously, but their tactics would be pretty much identical to what came before. Anyone thinking this sounds too far-fetched should remember that WWE has hit the repeat button on their own booking before.

A 'New Shield' would be too much for some to stomach.
