CM Punk Would've Booked John Cena, Not Jey Uso, To Win Royal Rumble 2025 (WWE News)
John Cena did NOT win his final WWE Royal Rumble - but if was up to CM Punk, he would have.

CM Punk has stated that if it was up to him, John Cena would have won WWE Royal Rumble 2025, not Jey Uso.
Speaking with Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen on Good Guy/Bad Guy, Punk claimed the men's Rumble would've been different if he had booked it. "Since we're just peeling back the curtain so much here, I would have had me and Cena as the last two guys," said Punk. "And I would have had Cena throw me over the top rope, because I think at this stage, I think losing is so much more valuable than winning."
"I'm almost afraid of winning everything that I've ever dreamed of, because then what do I do?", Punk added.
Although Cena entered the 2025 Royal Rumble as the heavy betting favorite, he ultimately finished second when Jey Uso shocked the world by eliminating him—one of the biggest upsets in Rumble history. CM Punk entered at no. 24 and lasted 18 minutes and 46 seconds, eliminating both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins before Logan Paul tossed 'The Voice of the Voiceless' out.
Punk, who has never won a Royal Rumble, showed few regrets at not winning this year. "Early in my career, I would say 'yes', but I think now, I'm more inclined to pitch me losing things," he said. "I think there is a broader story to tell. it's about the chase. The most recent example I can give you is Cody losing to Roman at WrestleMania 39. That was Cody's time. He loses the main event and he spends the entire year on a redemption arc, and he chases the title and he wins it at WrestleMania 40."
After winning Royal Rumble 2025, Jey Uso has announced his intention to face World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at WrestleMania 41. This leaves Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes without an opponent. Cena has been heavily rumoured for this spot, with the 16-time World Champion claiming, after Royal Rumble 2025, that he will attempt to win contendership by entering the Elimination Chamber on 1 March.
