For years, CM Punk angled for a match with Steve Austin at WrestleMania. He felt that the obvious dynamic between the two (beer drinking, hell raising every man vs. stuck up straight edge heel) was perfect and the biggest potential match in the wrestling business. He may very well have been right, but if both guys stay retired, it's never happening. Still, Punk did his best to get a buzz going, exchanging barbs with Austin on Twitter whenever he could. This tweet, from May 2011, not long before Punk's "pipe bomb" promo, was probably the most mean-spirited and biting one: As much as Austin is, was, and always will be associated with beer drinking in a positive way thanks to his wrestling character, he's had some personal issues related to his drinking as well. So to say that Austin needed to be drunk to put him over was, at the very least, poking him with a stick.
