The hometown hero is supposed to win, theyre supposed to make their triumphant return to where they grew up and give their fans the night of their lives - that is the unwritten rule in professional wrestling, but as we all know, CM Punk doesnt follow the rules. After a gruelling match of the year candidate, John Cena thought he finally defeated CM Punk and won the WWE Championship from his long time nemesis in his hometown of Boston. Unfortunately for Cena, his shoulders were also down for the three count and the result was a draw, and the title returned to CM Punk. As Cena debated the decision with the referee and looked on in shock, Punk attacked him from behind with the belt, sending the hometown hero to the ground (to a chorus of cheers). The lasting image of the PPV was CM Punk stood over the fallen hero, with his right hand man Paul Heyman and the WWE title held high above his head. Every evil deed, every cowardly and twisted act was enough the hero was outsmarted and Punk left Boston with another victory under his belt in the battle between himself and John Cena.
