CM Punk's WWE Matches In Chicago Ranked From Worst To Best
2. CM Punk Vs. Chris Jericho (Payback 2013)
This match and Punk's previous pay-per-view meeting with Chris Jericho might've only been 14 months apart, but it certainly didn't feel like it, as a lot had changed during that time.
Punk's babyface run didn't even make it past RAW's 1000th episode in July 2012, when the 'Second City Saint' shocked the world by putting The Rock to sleep. 'The Great One' turned the tables by ending Punk's historic WWE Championship reign at the following year's Royal Rumble event, before the newest "Paul Heyman Guy" became the most recent (and ultimately the final) victim of The Undertaker's 'Streak' at WrestleMania.
Chris Jericho, meanwhile, lost to the debuting Fandango at 'Mania... Needless to say, both men entered the AllState Arena in search of a much-needed big win. It was Punk's first match and appearance since said Undertaker feud, back from a short hiatus, so naturally Chicago received the then-heel (but not for long) hometown boy as if he was the biggest hero in the history of wrestling.
Punk got the feel-good win on his return, but not before the two delivered a fantastic match worthy of Vince McMahon's 'see saw match up back and forth' line. The ultimate line of approval, dear younger readers who just saw the joke fly over your heads!
