CM Punk's WWE Matches In Chicago Ranked From Worst To Best
9. CM Punk Vs. Big Daddy V - Money In The Bank Qualifying Match (ECW 11 March 2008)
Guess who's back. Back again. V is back. Tell a friend.
Five months after the mauling that took place after the ECW Championship 'match' at No Mercy, WWE returned to the 'Windy City' for the tapings of that week's SmackDown and ECW. Coincidence or not, the extreme-brand hosted a No Mercy rematch between Punk and Big Daddy V, this time with a spot in the fourth-ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match at stake.
With fellow ECW wrestler and regular face of Money in the Bank ladder matches, Shelton Benjamin on commentary, Punk took the fight to Big Daddy V early on, though he was mostly unsuccessful at it due to BDV's clear size and weight advantage.
Punk tried to capitalize after the monster missed a King Kong Bundy-like Avalanche in the corner, but he (obviously) failed to lift him up for the Go To Sleep and the former Viscera landed with all his weight on top of the 'Second City Saint'.
Thankfully for Punk, Big Daddy V missed yet another big move, this time on the outside, and was just too big and too slow to answer the referee's count of ten in time.
So there's your curious fact of the day - CM Punk qualified for what would turn out to be his first Money in the Bank victory in his hometown of Chicago.
