A betting man would not have put money down Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn sharing the same just days ahead of Zayn's big championship match at Elimination Chamber.

And yet, that's exactly what happened Monday night on Raw, with WWE gambling big on having the two face off and run the risk of fans turning on one in favor of the other.

Sami stormed the ring and called out Cody to ask him if he meant what he said last week that Rhodes believed that Zayn could beat Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. It turns out that Zayn desperately needed a pep talk, because while he believed he could beat Roman, he didn't think he would topple the Tribal Chief.

In what was yet another phenomenal segment involving these wrestlers, Cody pumped up a self-doubting Sami, urging him to finish his story. Rhodes noted that his dance card has been punched for WrestleMania 39, but Zayn still had to follow through on his, encouraging him to do so.

The result was fans wildly cheering both men, loving the mutual respect and support between the two, even as they acknowledged they could be WrestleMania opponents if Zayn is successful on Saturday. Amazingly enough, it put the thought in your head about Cody versus Sami at Mania rather than Roman. To be able to cast even a shred of doubt for a match that should be etched in stone is just remarkable promo work.
