Konnan has revealed via his Keepin' It 100 show that fellow legend Rey Mysterio is expected to be back on WWE programming from August onwards. The former nWo member was discussing his experiences at the recent Worlds Collide special co-promoted by both WWE and AAA when Rey's name came up in the conversation.

Mysterio did appear at Worlds Collide to express his excitement over the extensive working relationship between both companies now that WWE has acquired the Mexican outfit.

The masked hero was sadly forced to miss out on a match vs. Chad Gable's alter ego El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41 due to injuries. Rey, who tore an abductor muscle during a six-man tag bout on the 18 April episode of SmackDown (he teamed with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix vs. Gable and The Creed Brothers), was promptly replaced by Fenix in Las Vegas.

He hadn't been seen until making a welcome, albeit non-physical, return at Worlds Collide.

Mysterio To Play Key Role In WWE's Relationship With AAA

Mysterio mentioned this on the live mic at Worlds Collide on 7 June, but he's likely to play a major role in future events co-promoted under the dual WWE and AAA banner. That'd make sense; Rey is undoubtedly the most successful luchador of all time, and his legacy star power will add a ton of press to coming cards.

It's only a matter of time before he's featured in a marquee match on one of these joint effort shows.

Konnan confirmed this news by saying Mysterio would definitely be involved. He then went on to say he's also excited to see more from Rey's son Dominik and, "To see who else I’m going to get to work with". That's a point. Triple H will almost certainly slap a green light on other WWE roster members from Raw, SmackDown and NXT showing up on AAA-branded stuff.

Rey's suggested return point in August could come just in time for SummerSlam 2025 on 2-3 that month. Fingers crossed on that, because the legend has also been dealing with a damaged eardrum to go along with his other injuries.
