WWE's Extreme Rules pay-per-view saw Daniel Bryan and Rowan lose their SmackDown Tag Team Championships in a blistering Triple Threat with Heavy Machinery and The New Day.

It was Bryan himself who took the fall, having starred in a blistering closing stretch with Big E. Plucked out of the sky by The New Day's powerhouse, he was put down by the Midnight Drive, ending a reign that had seen him work tirelessly to raise the belts' prestige.

The aftermatch saw Bryan promise to take his career where he had never gone before, and WWE are now suggesting that this will manifest on SmackDown.

Per WWE.com's official show preview, tonight's broadcast will see Bryan "make a career-altering announcement." He has apparently "promised that this will change the course of his career and shake SmackDown LIVE to its core," though there's currently no word on what, exactly, this might entail.

The write-ups tone suggests the announcement won't have anything to do with his injury history. That being said, it could mean anything from taking a hiatus to challenging WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, who remains without an obvious SummerSlam opponent.

Whatever the case, we'll find out tonight.
