Dean Ambrose’s TLC Matches: Ranked From Worst To Best

3. 2015 – Dean Ambrose Vs. Kevin Owens

Though not as explosive as their Last Man Standing match the following month at Royal Rumble, this clash for the Intercontinental title showcased two superstars in their prime, in a match that threatened to steal the show.

It was shorter than it deserved to be, but Ambrose and Owens made the most of the running time, never allowing the pace to slow and keeping the audience on the edge of their seats throughout. When all was said and done, Ambrose pinned Owens for the three count following a relatively soft hurricanrana reversal of a pop-up powerbomb. However, in victory Ambrose looked like an absolute star with the crowd going crazy for the new champion.

This should have been the moment in which Ambrose was pushed into the main event scene for good. Even though he did have a short programme with Triple H for the heavyweight title, it felt as though WWE were using him as a mere placeholder for Reigns until WrestleMania. A missed opportunity considering by the end of 2015 fans were way more behind Slammy-winning Ambrose than Reigns, which if capitalized on could have made for a much more exciting Mania main event than the snooze-fest that was Triple H vs. Roman Reigns.
