Hell in a Cell has become somewhat devalued over the years, since becoming an annual event that fans can expect every October. It used to be reserved for the most vicious blood feuds like Triple H v Mick Foley or Brock Lesnar v The Undertaker, so when the Cell came out you knew things had gotten serious. While recent Hell in a Cell matches have lacked that somewhat, the stars aligned this year when the most passionate feud of the year came to a climax as WWE headed into their annual Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. Dean Ambrose v Seth Rollins will likely be remembered as the rivalry of 2014, and a Hell in a Cell match was the perfect environment for them to cap it off. Dean Ambrose set the tone for the match early on when he scaled the Hell in a Cell structure with a kendo stick, echoing Mick Foley and his steel chair years earlier at King of the Ring 1997. He faced off against Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble on top before Seth Rollins joined him and the fierce rivals traded blows atop the structure. While scaling the Cell used to be commonplace, its a much rarer sight in modern times as a lot of matches dont even see competitors leave the structure. By starting on the top, Ambrose let fans know they could expect the unexpected and he was going to go to great lengths to make Seth Rollins pay for his betrayal.
