7. Debuting With Aplomb

Survivor Series 2012. CM Punk was defending his WWE Title in a Triple Threat match against Ryback and John Cena when three men clad in black security attire hopped the barricade, beat Ryback to a pulp, and triple powerbombed him through the announce table.

It was one of the most memorable debuts in WWE history, and the absolute highlight of what was a largely forgettable wrestling show.

Initially debuting as CM Punk’s unofficial mercenaries, The Shield rallied against “injustice", and tore through Punk’s rivals before gradually expanding their horizons, before eventually running afoul of The Authority.

They will go down as one of the all-time great WWE stables. They started hot, ended with a twist, and their eventual split created not one, but three genuine WWE main eventers. It’s hard to put their debut’s true impact into words, but their legacy puts everything into perspective.
