Def Rebel's Time In WWE May Finally Be Up (WWE News)
WWE and Def Rebel could soon be parting ways.
To borrow a little from the Great One, it looks as if Def Rebel's time with WWE is finally coming to an end.
Def Rebel has been WWE's main in-house music producer since 2019, though many fans - and, supposedly, talent themselves - have been critical of certain Def Rebel themes and how so many of those songs feel so generic and formulaic. And now, it looks like Def Rebel's time with WWE could well be winding down.
Per BodySlam.net, Def Rebel is currently working through its final contract with WWE. However, the catch is, it's not known exactly when that deal will be expiring.
This report also adds that WWE is expected to continue to reach out to outside artists, following in the footsteps of recent work with the likes of Tool's Adam Jones, Incendiary, Mega Ran, and the work The Wonder Years did for Becky Lynch's latest theme.
Interestingly, this comes at a time when several WWE stars have reverted to their non-Def Rebel themes, with this week's Raw seeing Kairi Sane coming out to her previous Pirate Princess song, and last week's SmackDown seeing Shinsuke Nakamura and the Street Profits using their old tunes. There were also reports over the weekend that several WWE talents have been pushing for music changes, specifically to once again start using their old, non-Def Rebel songs, with Drew McIntyre and Sheamus two talents named in those reports.
Def Rebel's songs haven't been all bad, with Roman Reigns' theme being a prime example of that. But to say that there's a sameness to the bulk of their themes would be quite the understatement.
